I'm Back!~

Hello again! It seems that a new school year has started! (or at least lat semester) ....Okay maybe that was almost a quarter ago, but, I'm back, and that's a point of this, okay? Honestly, I'm not too sure what to write about since there hasn't been much to write about ever since us G.T. students left the middle school. And no, not at all did my friends and I propose to our teacher, Mr. Sanderl to kidnap him, totally not.

Anywayyysss, now we're all at the high school, and I'm sure everyone's enjoying it. I'm taking an actual formal Japanese class that isn't taught by myself, or some app found online. Air riflery has pretty much been taken over by the majority of my friends, that includes myself. We have way more freedom than at the middle school. Well, there's a lot of great things here. (I'm sorry my kouhai, you'll have to wait another year or two)

If you're wondering what I did this summer, well... I drew, watched anime, read fanfictions, and was online the whole time. It was really boring, and no, not all did the thought of writing in my blog come up. Soooooo, here's some of what happened:

Well this wasn't all from summber break, since I meant to get this done last semester. Enjoy!~ (Also, I would name who is who, but too many photos... Ehhhh)

Music Videos Rock!

Yay!~ There's only five more days left until the end of school, can't wait! Well, I'm also not looking forward to it too, I have so much work to finish! *Cries in Crona's emo corner* Well one of those things I need to finish by the end of school would be the music video for media class (at least it's one of the more fun things on my list). To be honest, this project is probably one of the most stressful projects (besides from HikiNo); EVERYTHING MUST BE PERFECT.

So for this project, besides from having to be in the music video, and lip syncing, my part was to edit, and make the animations. Iris's part was to film and help April plan what we needed. April did the planning, and worked on the story board. Haley was the person who did most of the filming outside of school.

I have no idea what part of our video our audience might like. Yes, to be honest, I have no idea. Maybe the bloopers because they were so 'funny'. Or some scene in our music video? Oh well~ I kind of think its the originality of it, since our music video was the only one that was in a different language.

Our music video shows what we have learned this year because it has, different camera shots, an animation, sequence from wide, medium, to close, and it shows how mad my editing skills are! *Insert chibi Prussia here*

I wish I wasn't going to the high school next year. Media class was my favourite class, I had loads of fun with my friends, and I had learned so much! (Really want to kidnap Mr. Sanderl from the middle school, and take him to the high school to become our media teacher again)

How many cameras do you think we used that day?

Taking more B-roll with friends...

Climbing up a tree to get B-roll that would be useless in the end. I RISKED THE CAMERA'S LIFE FOR NOTHING. I'M SO SORRY MR. SANDERL!!

Lyrical Livelyhood

Hello, again, I'm writing another blog post for school. I for once, can't wait for summer to come already (geez, what's wrong with me?). Thankfully, this time, we are just making a music video... Okay, maybe there is a lot of work, but this isn't the first time I've done this, it shouldn't be that bad. I hope so at least.

Well, for the first question that I need to answer, what my favourite song is. Oh wait, I don't have a favourite song! HA. Wait, I'm still going to have to answer this question in some way, don't I? Well, some artists I like are Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, Egoist, Ling Tosite Sigure, and HOME MADE KAZOKU. Not that I really am able to understand the Japanese that is sung because I've never tried, but I love the tune to the music! And for the English music, I love the lyrics, I don't know why though! They just amuse me!

For our music video we chose the song "Crossing Field" by LiSA. It is the first opening song to Sword Art Online, if anyone knows that anime. Our team chose this song because we wanted to do a music video with a Japanese song to make ours original. We also wanted the song to be more of one of our teammate's pace (song wise). Other than those reasons and that it had a doable story with it, we had no exact reason for choosing this song.

As for our story for the music video, we haven't an idea of what it is... Our team has changed it so many times, none of us know exactly what the story is. Though a vague idea of what we're trying to tell in our music video is that a group of people (our team) who were depressed, shy, a loner, and worrisome would come together. They would become friends, becoming happy once again. (And rainbows, leprechauns, happiness, sparkles, and unicorns!~)

Our team's story board, I know, its pretty bad.

And our team trying to brain storm a story (at the bottom), never let us brainstorm.

Our Animation Post

P1T2 Hannah Switches Schools from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Hello people of the world! I know I said I'd try to make more personal posts, but, honestly, my life mostly consists of going to school and talking to people online. Okay, so my last post, I was talking about animation, and how we were to make an animation (that is at least on minute long).

My team and I decided to make a story about going to a new school, as it is a dilemma that almost all students face during their life. Many people are nervous and anxious. Our story "Hannah Switches Schools" tells a story about how Hannah feels that when she moves to her new school, she won't fit in and people will dislike her. In the end, her worries are diminished when she meets, and befriends new people.

Our lesson is that going to a new school shouldn't be stressful, but enjoyable. And that people at your new school won't dislike you.

The worst moment my team faced was when we were a few seconds short of the time we needed (one minute). At the time, it was our last day for our rough cut to be turned in, and no matter how hard we tried to edit the film, it either was too short, or was too choppy due to us trying to slow it down. One of our best moments would possibly be when we were actually able to make the one minute cut, even though it was just barely a minute. We were able to make a 4/4 on our rough cut, and I thought that was one of the best thing that happened.

Some Drawings

Okay, I finally got something to blog about that is from my personal life, and not my school life! Aren't you proud of me?? Well, I know I am! (What happens when you become a shut in, never become a shut in)

Well, having too much free time, I drew Kaneki Ken from Tokyo Ghoul.

And then I drew Mikasa Akerman from Shingeki No Kyojin (Attack on Titan). I really can't wait for the second season of the anime, not to mention, the live action movie is coming out in Japan this year, I believe.

Anyways, I probably won't be posting any personal posts any time soon, so enjoy one of the few personal blog posts that are here.

Animation Outtakes

It's finally fourth quarter...  *Sighs in relief* And I finally got an A in math!~ *Dances around* Yep.

Well, anyways, for GT we are working on animation (Geez, I keep writing "anime").Anyways, on my team, there is Hannah, she likes to play soccer and is an amazing artist. Maya who is also an amazing artist, and loves Supernatural. Finally, there is Justice who is a god at Photoshop and loves to surf.

Just to humor you guys, animation is a form of film that requires a lot of time, effort, and patience. It is also a collection of frames merged together, to create motion and shape change. Stop motion animation is when you have a subject that you take multiple pictures of while it moves, or does an action. A .GIF, also known as "Graphic Interchange Format" is a format that is used for saving animations (which in my case would be from Photoshop).

For our actual animation project, our story is "Hannah Switches Schools". It is about how Hannah is going to a new school, and is very nervous about her first day, and impression that she makes. We decided to make this animation about going to a new school because many people are anxious about their first day. "What if I embarrass myself? Will people like me? Maybe I won't be able to make any friends. " are many thoughts that might go through a person's mind. This animation shows that you shouldn't worry, and that the fist day of going to a new school isn't as bad as people may think.

Italy Mochi with a mustache!

And...some...embarrassing GIF I made some time ago that I'm going to use because I'm too lazy to make a new one...

Typography Images

Hello people of the internet... *Internally crying because for amount of work* Okay, so I'm back with another blog post for my media class. Just stay with me. I should have some kind of personal update soon...I think. Anyways, I hope everyone is having a nice year so far, if not, just hang in there, I'm sure it'll get better!

Okay, so for today's blog let us... (Insert word/phrase here). Just kidding, let us talk about typography portraits. So, um... *Thinks for a moment* Oh! Right, so typography is like a type of design in art. So you have a photo, and there's writing on it, so it makes a kind of silhouette that's made of words (I can't find the word for it). It can be used to make a lasting impact because the words can show many things in a person, also it can be used to show what's in a person. In general, many of these photos just look amazing, and on its own can make lasting impact.

I think my biggest challenge during this project was figuring out the steps in this project because I may or may not have been not paying attention. And maybe when I was paying attention, all of the information that I heard would just go though my mind (don't judge me with your judgy eyes, I was having a bad day, okay?).  I overcame this issue by "stalking" my partner's computer and reading the instructions for how to make a typography portrait at least ten times. (I can't explain how happy I am that Mr. Sanderl didn't make us explain the steps of how to make a typography portrait)

The first typography portrait was one of Bill Gates. It was probably the most simple out of the three that I made. To be frank, it was probably the worst looking one...

Then we made a typography portrait of one of our teachers. This time, we were able to use colour (and for once, me using colour didn't ruin anything).

And for our final typography portrait, we made a portrait of ourselves. This was the most difficult, and the steps were reaaaaallyyy complicated, I kept getting lost on the steps. But in the end, I thought of it as really fun.

Double Exposed Portraits

Hello again fellow internet people!~ Having a good year so far? If not, go an look at some Onision videos (I'm just kidding, don't, unless you like his videos and crude jokes). Oh, and if you're wondering why my blog posts are never formal and serious, it's because I can't stand sounding like a robot when writing. It could be the fanfiction writer part of me, I have no idea.

I guess this post's topic is about double exposed portraits (a little hyper link since my explanations are horrible). If you're wondering what that is, well don't ask me, I have no idea. Well, at least not yet, I don't. Give me a few days and some motivation to look it up on Google and maybe I'll be able to explain what it is. *A week later...* Okay, I finally figured out how to make a double exposure (not that I really want to go into the steps of how to make one, too much work).

Okay, so first you will have a portrait of someone, or yourself. In our project we had to have a profile shot of the person. Then you will take two other images of something that may represent you, or something you like. After taking these photos, then open up Photoshop<Scripts<Load Files Into Stack. Then you will have to use the "Dodge Tool" (yes, I had to put it in quotation marks my teacher used this word too many times). Then use the dodge tool to paint around your face. After you paint over your background you can then crop your photo and put a screen effect on all three of your photos. You can adjust the angle of your two other photos to how you like it. And in the end, you should get something like this:

In my final photo, the two things in it are some manga, and a stash full of candy and junk food. This symbolizes me because it shows my hobby of reading. And the stash full of junk food and candy shows how I much I like unhealthy food (I don't care if it's unhealthy! As long as I enjoy it).

Some things I could improve about my images are how my colours blend well together. Along with the quality of my photos. They are somewhat pixelated, though I don't really know how to fix that problem. Also, my placing of the two photos that symbolize me could be placed better.

HDR Photography

Hello everyone! Having a good Monday (or maybe not)? Anyways, here's another blog post for media class.

Today's post is about HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos. What is HDR you say? Well, in a more simple way of saying it, it's a photo that's colour really pops out. Also it makes the lighting in the photo more even, so you can see things you might not see in a regular photo. This is made possible when you take multiple photos with different exposures and put all the photos together. Well...since this explanation wasn't good enough, here, go and see what HDRs actually are.

One thing that I like about HDRs is the vivd colour that pops out of the picture. One thing I dislike about HDRs is the making of them in general. To me, I find it somewhat troublesome having to take all those pictures (probably because the last time I made one, I had no tripod) and because I'm simply too lazy.

The difference between the push button feature HDR on your phone from a HDR made from scratch is that you have more control over the exposure and saturation in a HDR made from scratch. And most HDR features on your phone are quite dull, they don't have your personality in it, almost like the photo is lifeless.

Making a HDR from scratch, you need to take 7 (well, for our project we need to take seven) photos. Each photo will be a different exposure. All of the images will be of the same thing, and you can't move the camera, nor can the subject (if it's a person or animal, they can't move). After taking the pictures, you can open them in photoshop. File<Automate<Merge to HDR Pro. Then you can edit the photo, such as the saturation, exposure, etc.

Also, click here to see what a Superimpose is.

Note: I meant to keep the car there because of the reflection on it.

Movie Trailer Critique

Hello, again! Happy New year and Merry Late Christmas; I hope you enjoyed your winter break! So it's the second day back in school (it's been pretty horrible) and I just want to go home already.

Anyways...before the winter break, in G.T. we were making movie trailers for our project as I said in one of my previous blog posts (I think). We were making a movie trailer for Iris's story, "Mayhem of the Teacher" which was about an evil substitute who turned misbehaving students into erasers. My team mates were Iris, Brandi, and Mikela. My job for this project was to film and edit the video (though somehow Mikela took over my job of editing).

Our project requirements were that we had at least one minute and thirty seconds of film, we had five or more shot sequences, a movie poster, um...I think this was all. We weren't able to meet all of the requirements, well, mostly just the time limit. Our video only had one minute of film.

For our results, we mostly had satisfactory. And to be honest, I agree with the polls, we could have done much better. And it might have been better if we used a story the didn't all take place during school. Oh well, that's alright, next time, if we do something like his again, I'll make sure that we film something that we can do outside of school. Other than that, I haven't really learned anything else since it's almost all review to me (I don't mean to sound cocky or anything when I say this).
